Simple Tips to Boost Self-Confidence

Finding your style can help boost your confidence to ensure you’re wearing what you feel most comfortable in. If you’re like me, sifting through your closet can be a little daunting, so I decided to take baby steps to find out my style and you can too! I actually had a lot of fun doing this, and it gave me an opportunity to re-organize my closet.

DETERMINING YOUR COLOR PALETTE

I went through all the favorite pieces in my closet and stacked them by color. I was then able to see which colors I had the most of, and that made up my color palette.

OUT WITH THE OLD

While sifting through my closet I noticed clothes I’ve had since college and embarrassingly… high school. Eek! It was helpful to look at those pieces and think about how often I wear them, and how much I felt connected to them. Time to let go of 18-year-old me.

TERMINOLOGY

Familiarize yourself with fashion style terminology to be able define your own. I’ve listed only a few common terms below as a guide. After I organized my wardrobe, I was able to look at everything together and determine that my style is [what I’m going to call], “casual-chic with a sprinkle of boho.”

  • Bohemian

  • Vintage

  • Casual Chic

  • Preppy

  • Tomboy

  • Street Style

This tone of pink was popping up a lot in my closet. I love these high wasted pants from Loft because they hug my hips and are the perfect ankle length. The floral crop is from Garage but for another look, pair the pants with a loose fitting t-shirt crop instead.
