Styling Your Wide Leg Culottes

Up until recently I haven’t been able to find a pair of wide leg pants (or the fancy term, culottes) that fit length wise and didn’t require tailoring. LET’S NOT SPEND THAT EXTRA CASH, LADIES!! There are a couple of stores where I feel I can get “lucky” shopping at. Places like Zara, H&M and Express sometimes have pants that fit my 4’11” stature but it’s really a hit or miss. One store that caters to smaller people and has been more of a “sure thing” when shopping is Uniqlo. Uniqlo is an Asia-based clothing company and I tend to find more wearable pieces with brands like this because I find they run on the smaller side.

This type of pant is a go-to in my closet and I’ve been wearing them for all things “sassy professional.”

Why I Love This Style

I love pairing this style with loose fitting crop top tees, tighter shirts that can be tucked in, loose button ups that can be half tucked in or even a more sexy crop top. You can really dress this look up or down depending on your preference which is why I gravitate towards these pants so much!

I’ve worn these pants to work events, cocktail parties, meetings and even a bridal shower because the are just so versatile. I’m 4’11” and these white pants are from Zara and I’m wearing a size small ($50). The pair that I have from Uniqlo are a size extra small ($20 AND I’ve linked a similar pair that is clickable). Both are lightweight and the pair from Zara is 100% polyester and very breathable, which is key if you live in a constantly warm climate.

A Helpful Tip

In these pictures I’m following the 2/3rd – 1/3rd tip which is a staple in the petite community. Although I don’t believe in “rules” when it comes to fashion, I think it’s important to at least be aware of advice like this. What this means is the bottom portion of you should cover 2/3rds of your body and the top portion of you will cover the remaining 1/3rd. It’s a good tip if you want to elongate your body.
